Cathy, who writes over at Words and Herbs, had the brilliant idea of posting some photos from the summer – bringing a bit of sunshine and cheer to a foggy November day. And, even better, she invited other bloggers to join in and post their own sunny summer photos. As someone who really struggles with the grey, cold, damp days of winter, I’m definitely up for a wee burst of sunshine and warmth as we head towards the shortest day.
So here’s a collection of photos from the summer, it may have been the wettest on record here in the UK, but there were good days too –
There were way too many of these in the garden –
And far too few of these –
How was your summer?

Lovely Sarah! I think we should do a couple more such posts in the next few weeks, to get us through the darkness!

What BEAUTIFUL photos! So lovely, and such a memory away, summer that is! My big DSLR broke, and I am just using my Olympus Pen at present, but I like the DofF you seem to achieve in your photos, what camera is it, and what lens is on it for most of this photos? Karen

Thanks Karen! The camera is a Nikon D60 – I got it because it seemed quite basic, my theory being if it only does a few things, then it should do them well (not sure there’s any logic to this!) The lens is an old, and very heavy, Nikon zoom that my husband bought for his camera back in the days of film photography – it has to be focused in the old-fashioned way of turning the ring on the lens, I love it. Should also point out that I take and discard a lot of photos to get one or two in focus!

Thanks Louisa. It’s been so windy and wet here the last couple of day I’m needing a bit of sunshine – even if it’s only through a photo!

Your photos look lovely and sunny all year round Liz – I’m seriously considering a move to Melbourne on the basis of your blog and the lovely food you grow in it!

These summer pictures are lovely. though I am an autumn fan too (even on wet windy evenings such as tonight – as long as one is tucked up inside, safe and warm of course!) .

You’re right, autumn can be lovely too – it’s the winter that I really struggle with, I don’t like being cold!
